How old are you?

I’m twenty-three.

Can we see what you look like?

Where did you go to university?

I went to the University of Lincoln, to study a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, and got a 2.1. I’m currently in my second year of a BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Derby.

What got you into fashion?

University was the time when I really started enjoying fashion as something of a hobby, more than just a thing. Before then, my mum would buy me clothes (don’t laugh, my mum has damn good fashion sense), and I’d never really developed a sense of fashion tailored to my personality. When I got to uni, I started to explore fashion; I got really into thrifting, and I still buy a lot of my clothes from places like charity shops, eBay and Depop even now. Tumblr also helped; I got exposed to fashion styles I never even heard of before, and it really opened my eyes to the possibilities beyond jeans and a tee-shirt.

Why mental health nursing?

I’ve suffered from mental health issues as long as I can remember, and have met a lot of people with similar problems. I’m not ashamed of my problems; as awful as they are, they have shaped who I am today, and if I could go back and change things, I wouldn’t. Nevertheless, the stigma around mental health is atrocious, and I want to change that.

Where do you buy most of your clothes?

I get clothes from so many places! I don’t tend to really stick to one style, so I can sometimes look a bit eccentric, to be honest. A few places I shop at are; Topshop, Apricot, Phase Eight, H&M, Monsoon, River Island, All Saints (though rarely). I get a lot of my clothes second hand, as well.

Are you a cat or a dog person?

Cat person. Definitely. As much as I love dogs (and I do love dogs), cats are where it’s at. High strung, aloof, and a little bit pretentious? I feel like I’m one of them already!

What are your favourite makeup brands?

I really love Benefit, especially for mascara and eyeshadows. Mac for concealer and gel eyeliner. No7 for foundation. Ecotools for makeup brushes. Ted Baker for brush holders. Rimmel, Revlon and No7 for lipstick. Accessorize (surprisingly!) for eyeshadow.

What are your go-to skincare products?

I use the Body Shop’s Vitamin C moisturiser, which is fantastic for my dry skin. I suffer from psoriasis, and any skincare product I use I have to be careful with. Aveeno cream is the best thing ever for dry and cracked skin. Organic Surge make some gorgeous skincare products. I also love anything Soap and Glory!

As an artist yourself, who are your favourite artists?

I wrote my dissertation on my favourite artists; Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, and Marina Abramovic. I also really enjoy Jenny Saville’s work, as well as Chiharu Shiota.
